Obituary

Robert 'Wayne' Holloway, born March 26, 1946, was 78 years old when he passed away on August 2, 2024, at his home in Belzoni.

Wayne was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, friend, and a faithful man of God. He lived in Humphreys County all his life and served his community as a Justice Court Judge and Sheriff for over 30 years. Wayne also owned Wayne's 76 gas station and has been farming turtles since the late 1980s. His love for people was shown through his kindness and giving nature. Wayne also had an amazing passion for animals and devoted his time to helping out the local animal shelter, BARK, in Belzoni. For the most part, he and his wife Pat have never had less than 3 dogs at a time. Wayne has been a member of the First Baptist Church in Belzoni for many years and made his presence known every Sunday as he stopped to hug or shake hands with the entire congregation. His faith never wavered despite hard times.

Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Selma Quincy Holloway; his mother, Bessie Dubois Holloway; his son, Robert Wayne Holloway, Jr. "Poo-tee"; his brothers, James Herman, Douglas, and Gerald Holloway; and his sister, Jenelle Holloway.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia 'Pat' Cochran Holloway; his daughter, Toni Walker (Cory) of Belzoni; grandson, Cade Francis of Leland; granddaughter, Mason Smallwood (Justin) of Inverness; one great-grandson, Myles Smallwood; one brother, David Holloway of Belzoni; and two sisters, Martha Daniels of Greenville and Peggy McMillian of Belzoni. Wayne also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends. Although Wayne will be so missed by his family and loved ones, he is rejoicing in Heaven and has been reunited with Poo-tee, whom he loved so much.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 6, 2024, from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm, at First Baptist Church in Belzoni. The funeral service will begin at noon with Rev. George Johnson officiating.
