Robert Ted Montgomery, 61, of Greenville, and formerly of Sunflower, passed away Monday, September 12, 2022, at his home.

Robert was born August 11, 1961, in Ruleville, to Charles Ted Montgomery and Bettie Mae Ward Montgomery. He was the owner and operator of Tradition Auto Sales, Tradition Trucking, and Tradition Diesel. Robert was a very generous person who would do anything for anyone. He had a very big heart. Robert enjoyed riding his Harley and loved the lake. His love for the lake was the driving force behind him moving to Lake Ferguson to be near the water. Robert was always smiling and was full of life. His children said he was 21 until he died. He always wanted everyone to have fun. Robert was a wonderful father and grandfather and loved nothing more than his children and grandchildren. He loved spending time with his family.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Bettie Montgomery and one grandson, John Fischer Purvis.

He is survived by four children, Casey Montgomery of Memphis, Tennessee, Melissa Montgomery Purvis of Inverness, Brittanie Raie Montgomery of Memphis, Tennessee, and Robert Blaine Montgomery of Sunflower; two brothers, Thurman Montgomery and Larry Montgomery both of Batesville; two sisters, Rosemary Britt of Sunflower and Stephanie Burton of Etta; and four grandchildren, Tara Madelyn Purvis, Cason Barret Purvis, Jack Montgomery Purvis, and Avery Raie Moore.

Visitation will be Sunday, September 18, 2022, from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. The funeral service will begin at 1:00pm, Monday, September 19, 2022, at Sunflower United Methodist Church in Sunflower with Rev. Veronica Pritchard officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 pm at Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery in Winona. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
