Robert Kary Mullen, affectionately known as Hob, 77, of Indianola passed away peacefully Sunday, January 1, 2017 at St. Dominic Jackson Memorial Hospital, with his loving family by his side.

Hob was born January 4, 1939 in Sunflower, and was the son of John and Myrtle Skelton Mullen. He was a United States Navy Veteran. He married Lady Katherine McKnight Mullen on January 22, 1965, and together they made their home in Indianola. Hob worked at Gresham Petroleum Company as a propane route salesman until his retirement and then worked part time as station manager at Gresham Service Station in Inverness. He was a member and past president of Indianola American Legion Post # 2. Hob always put his family first and always taught them to love unconditionally and never to judge. He never saw his children or grandchildren without telling each one individually that he loved them. He never met a stranger and would help anyone. His children often joked with him by calling him "Hoke" because he would always drive the little "Daisy's" around town. Hob was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, John Paul "Bud" Mullen, Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Lady Katherine McKnight Mullen; two daughters, Lady Karyn "KaKa" Mullen Perry and her husband Andy of Jackson, MS and Elizabeth "Missy" Mullen Parker and her husband Randy Abbey of Madison; two sisters, Margaret Mullen Kimbriel of Greenville and Carylon Mullen Mitchell and her husband Jerry of Indianola; five grandchildren, Rob Bellipanni and his wife Justice, Morgan Perry Chism and her husband Matt, McKenna Gibson and her husband Brennon, Collin Stafford, Conner Stafford; and six great grandchildren, Brennan Chism, Stella Kate Chism, Khloee Gibson, Delta Gibson, Hunter Elizabeth Gibson, and Hayden Mae Bellipanni.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 3, 2017 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial will follow, with military honors, at Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola is in charge of arrangements.
