Obituary

Robert Clyde Webb, affectionately known as Bobby, 88, of Indianola, died Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Indianola Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.


Bobby was born October 24, 1930 in Lexington to Herman Clyde and Martha Ann Webb. He was a bootstrapping Mississippian, a self-made man, loving husband and father. He married his high school sweetheart, Sue Carolyn Sims, and they made their home in Indianola. Bobby served in the United States Navy prior to starting a candy truck in 1952. He later built it into a large business enterprise known as Webb Vending Company. Bobby was a true southern gentleman. He was a self-taught artist who loved to paint and enjoyed watching artist Bob Ross paint on television. Bobby was also a wonderful dancer. He and his wife enjoyed going dancing, especially to the jitterbug. Bobby was a member of First United Methodist Church in Indianola and was a member of the Schwartz-Ward-Rose Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the Rose-Woods Mission Team in Honduras for several years.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Martha Webb; wife, Sue Webb; son, Robert Clyde "Chuck" Webb, Jr.; two granddaughters, Jennifer Lea Duke and Mary Allison Callaway; and his son-in-law, Fletcher Duke.


He is survived by three daughters, Deborah Finley and husband Howard of Lakewood, Ohio, Donna Sue Lott and husband Gary of Indianola, and Tomilyn Duke Cassibry of Carbondale, Colorado; daughter-in-law, Janet Webb of Indianola; eight grandchildren, Tatum Webb-Ramsay and husband Mike, Sarah Kimbriel and husband David, Blair McGee, Robert Carter Callaway and wife Katherine, Drew Lott and wife Cathe, Jacob Lott and wife Elizabeth, Taylor Webb Lott, and William Fletcher Duke, Jr.; and fifteen great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 17, 2019, from 9:00 am until the 10:00 am funeral service at First United Methodist Church in Indianola. Rev. Trey Skaggs and Rev. Jim Woods will officiate. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or any charity of the donor's choice.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Katherine Patterson, and the staffs of Indywood, South Sunflower County Hospital, Indianola Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, and Baptist Hospice for taking such wonderful care of Mr. Webb.
