Rodger Mooney, 78, of McCall Creek and formerly of Moorhead, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Hope Lodge in Jackson.

Rodger was born June 3, 1947, in Moorhead, to Edward Monroe Mooney and Ida Belle Church Mooney. He grew up in Moorhead and, in his later years, lived in St. Francisville, Louisiana. Rodger enjoyed traveling, everything outdoors, reading western novels, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was also devoted to AA and carried the message of AA to those who needed it. Rodger loved spending time at his home in McCall Creek and St. Francisville, Louisiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Edward Monroe Mooney, Jr.

Rodger is survived by son, Michael Gore (Brittany); daughters, Catherine Belle "Tinker" Bonds (Kevin) and Sarah MacTavish (Lance); brother, Rocky Mooney (Pam); seven grandchildren, Katherine Jewel Rushing (Joey), Natalie Bonds, Coleman Bonds, Lukas Gore, William Gore, Journey Belle Gore, and Molly MacTavish; and one great grandson, Bryson Martin.

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. Services will begin at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
