Roland "Carlo" Galatas, 79, of Indianola, and formerly of Slidell, Louisiana, and Atlanta, Georgia, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023, at St. Dominic – Jackson Memorial Hospital with his loving wife by his side.

Roland was born February 15, 1944, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Morris and Lillian Guidroz Galatas. He grew up in Slidell where he graduated high school. Roland was a United States Air Force Veteran. After his honorable discharge, he moved to Atlanta, where he started working to build his business. He often talked about starting his business, DES, Inc., poolside because he didn't have an office. Roland turned those poolside meetings into a very large and lucrative company. He ran DES, Inc. until his retirement in 2009. Roland was a very generous person, he helped anyone and everyone he could. He expected nothing in return other than knowing he helped. Roland was the life of every party with a magnetic personality. Everyone loved him and wanted to spend time with him. He always wore the biggest smile and was always "mighty fine". Roland was never one to complain about things due to his optimistic spirit. He married Elaine Wade in 2002, and they became the best of friends. They spent every day together and made so many lasting memories. Together, they hosted many parties and family gatherings and were always working to bring everyone together.  Roland was a Catholic by faith, but after moving to Mississippi, he enjoyed attending Elaine's childhood church, Fairview Baptist Church. He loved the church members and really considered Fairview his home church.  Roland enjoyed golfing and fishing. He loved living on Lake Ponchartrain where he had easy access to his favorite fishing hole. Roland loved and treated everyone he met with love and respect. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Roland was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Morris Galatas, Jr.; and two sisters, Margie Galatas and Mary Lou Fraiche.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Elaine Wade Galatas of Indianola; two sons, David Galatas of Lawrenceville, Georgia and John (Traci) Galatas of Suwanee, Georgia; two grandchildren, Jack Galatas and Sarah Galatas; three brothers, Donald (Pat) Galatas of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Allen Galatas of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Melville (Sherry) Galatas of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; and one sister, Sandra Deal of Pearl River, Louisiana.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 13, 2023, from 4:00 pm until 5:00 pm, at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. The memorial celebration will begin at 5:00 pm with Rev. John Burke officiating. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
