Ruby Lawrence Coleman, 83, of Conover, North Carolina, and formerly of Inverness, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Conover Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Ruby was born November 4, 1938, in Drummonds, Tennessee to Earlin James Lawrence and Mamie Lee Russell Lawrence. She worked as a General Merchandise Supervisor at Lewis Grocer Company in Indianola for over 20 years prior to her retirement. Ruby was a good solid American citizen who believed in hard work. She enjoyed traveling  with her husband Cecil for as long as their health allowed. Ruby loved puppies and being around babies. She was very strong and wherever she went, people would gravitate toward her. Ruby was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Inverness.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 42 years, Cecil Coleman; and one son, Christopher Miles Mizell.

Ruby is survived by her two sons, Henry (Lilliana) Mizell of Conover, North Carolina and Bill (Margaret) Mizell of Aurora, Colorado; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2022, from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm at First Baptist Church in Inverness. The funeral service will begin at 4:00 pm with Rev. Greg Hood officiating. Burial will follow in Southside Cemetery in Inverness. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
