Marion Ruth Arnold, 82, of Doddsville, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Delta Health Medical Center in Greenville.

Ruth was born on October 17, 1941, to Tom Ussery and Audrey Hillhouse Ussery. She married Fred Arnold in 1968. Ruth worked for Ruleville Manufacturing Company for many years. She was known by her family as the "camera aunt". At any event you could count on her to be gathering everyone for pictures. Most of the time, not only did she have one camera, but she also had a backup. Ruth loved her little family. At Christmas time, all the family members knew exactly what they would receive from her, canned items. Family members could not wait to grab their boxes of jelly, pickled okra, green beans, and vegetable soup. The first one to the car to help her unload was always the one who got to hide the peanut butter balls, everyone's favorite, so all the others would have to search for them. Not only did she love her family, but she also loved all the stray cats and dogs that found her. Never before has anyone bought so much bread and wieners for stray animals.

Ruth never had children of her own, but she loved and cared for her sister, Faye, as if she was her own. They were always together. Sometimes they would even let Leroy tag along.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred Arnold; sister, Linda Soliz; and brother, Bill Ussery.

She is survived by her sister, Faye (Leroy) Robison of Moorhead; brother, Tony Ussery of Brooksville, Florida; and many nieces; nephews; great nieces; great nephews; great-great nieces; and great-great nephews.

Visitation will be held Monday, September 16, 2024, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 with Rev. Roy Tidwell officiating. Burial will follow in Linn Baptist Church Cemetery in Doddsville. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
