Ruth Skipper Taylor of Batesville, MS, formerly of Sunflower, MS, went to be with the Lord on June 11, 2016. She was born in Atlanta, GA on February 24, 1914. She had a servant's heart and expressed it in many ways through teaching music as well as kindergarten. Her working career spanned seventy years, with final retirement at the age of 80. She loved the Lord and faithfully served as Sunflower Methodist Church's pianist for 50 years. She also graciously used her musical talents to play for many weddings and funerals. Her hobbies included gardening, cooking, reading, and doing handwork.
Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Winston Taylor, Jr. and her son Richard Winston Taylor III. She leaves behind her daughter, Annette Taylor Montgomery (Thurmon) of Batesville, MS, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 14, 2016 from 2:00 pm until the 3:00 pm funeral service at Sunflower United Methodist Church, Sunflower, MS. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Greenwood, MS, all under the direction of Burton Funeral Home, Indianola.
