Obituary

Sandra Bell Steele, affectionately known as Sandy, 53, of Indianola, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at her home with her loving family by her side.

Sandy was born September 19, 1964, in Greenville to Jimmy Lee and Carline Bates Bell. She was raised in Inverness and attended school at Central Delta Academy. Sandy graduated high school from Indianola Academy and attended Mississippi State University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Math Education Degree. While in Starkville, she met the love of her life, Edwin Hunter Steele, Jr., and they were married September 5, 1987. She later earned an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing from Mississippi Delta Community College. Sandy worked as a Registered Nurse for Sta-Home Home Health Agency until her health made her unable to work. Sandy was a wonderful wife, sister, and mother to her two beautiful children. She was a beautiful person with a selfless spirit. As a longtime friend said, "In a world of givers and takers, Sandy was definitely a giver." Even through her battle with cancer, she never lost her faith or her giving spirit. She remained thankful to God for everything she had and saw everything as a blessing. Sandy was a member of First Baptist Church in Inverness, where she was the church pianist for 28 years.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Carline Bates Bell.

Sandy is survived by her father, Jimmy Lee Bell and wife Ellouise of Inverness; husband, Edwin Hunter Steele, Jr. of Indianola; daughter, Catherine Steele Bragg and husband Samuel of Birmingham, Alabama; son, Edwin Hunter Steele, III of Memphis, Tennessee; three sisters, Linda Bell Weeks and husband David of Inverness, Anne Bell Gratz and husband Brett of Ball Ground, Georgia, and Beverly Bell Quinn and husband Jim of Greenwood; and a host of nieces and nephews.
