Sherry McMinn Hawkins, age 90, of Indianola, Mississippi, passed away February 3, 2026, at The Grove Nursing Home in Columbia, Mississippi.

She was born on October 23, 1935, in Courtland, Mississippi, to Glynn B. McMinn and Miriam Paris McMinn. Sherry was raised in Indianola, where she graduated from high school. She later married Joe R. Hawkins, and together they made their home in Indianola.

Sherry was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, where she formed lifelong friendships through her personal dedication to Christ. She was deeply committed to her faith and made it a priority to ensure that her five children understood the importance of attending church and accepting Christ as their personal Savior.

A devoted Christian, Sherry lived a life that reflected her faith daily. She was a fearless prayer warrior who loved the Lord deeply and faithfully stood in the gap for her family and friends.

While she was a wonderful, full, and loving mother to her children, her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she absolutely adored. She was lovingly known to them as "Mimi."

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe R. Hawkins; two brothers, Lindell McMinn and Billy McMinn; and two sisters, Janie Hill and Hortense Nichols and her great-grandson, Ellis Vance.

She is survived by her son, Joey Hawkins (Kim); her four daughters, Becky Dotson, Laura Weems, Glynda Wright, and Jeanie Habig; and her beloved sister, Doris McMinn Wilson.

She is also survived by eleven grandchildren: eight grandsons—Hunter Hawkins, Ryan Dotson, Trey Weems, Chase Weems, Parker Weems, Peyton Weems, Zach Jordan, and Jacob Habig—and three granddaughters—Holly Gordon, A.K. Vance, and Kellie Habig; as well as seven great-grandchildren: Daisy Jordan, Callie Jordan, Rory Hawkins, Wells Hawkins, Cooper Gordon, Addison Gordon, and Hamp Vance.
She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all the staff of The Grove Nursing Home for the loving care and compassion shown to Mrs. Hawkins. You all have been such a blessing to our family.

Visitation will be held Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at First Baptist Church in Indianola. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am with Dr. Guy Burke officiating. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.

Her grandsons will have the honor of serving as pallbearers.
