Shirley Hawkins Showah, 81, of Indianola, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2019, at South Sunflower County Hospital.

Shirley was born October 1, 1938, in Beaumont, Arkansas, to Carl and Wilma Pierce Hawkins. She worked as a cosmetologist and later began keeping children. Shirley kept children from newborns until they started school for three families. She loved children. Shirley was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church in Indianola.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Wilma Pierce Hawkins; three sisters, Kathleen Strosinski, Josephine Boyd, and Faye Wade; and one brother, Kenneth Hawkins.

Shirley is survived by two daughters, Prissy Skelton and her husband Wallace of Indianola, and Vickie Flannery of Indianola; one brother, Irwin "Tinker" Hawkins and his wife Margaret of Moorhead; three grandchildren, Brandy Whittington, Taylor Skelton, and Emma Claire Weaver.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
