Sidney Earl Williams, 78, of Leland, passed away Friday, April 28, 2023, after a brief illness and hospital stay in Jackson.

Sidney was born November 16, 1944, in Pasadena, Texas, to Robert Davis Williams and Robbie Elsie Golden Williams. He was self-employed in the land forming and farming industry for many years. Sidney was a hard worker and spent many hours driving a tractor and supervising the jobs. He never met a stranger and loved to talk to anyone that would listen. He enjoyed recounting and reminiscing stories especially of his younger years. Sidney had many fond memories of the time he spent in Tucumcari, New Mexico. He was a devoted husband and father and loved his children for the individuals they are. Sidney also had a special love for his sisters. He was a faithful Christian and member of the Leland Mennonite Church. Sidney was a generous man that freely put himself out to help anyone.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, one brother, and three brothers in law.

Sidney is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gloria Boehs Williams of Leland; two sons, Robert Williams of Leland and Scott Williams of Adamsville, Tennessee; one daughter, Vanessa Williams of Leland; two sisters, Christine and Bruce Lothamer of Madison, and Gay Lynn and Edward Murray of Oak Ridge North, Texas; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Sunday, April 30, 2023, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at Leland Mennonite Church. The funeral service will be held Monday, May 1, 2023, at 10:30 am, at Leland Mennonite Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
