Sidney Lewis Windham, 92, of Caile, died Friday, May 20, 2016 at Liberty Health and Rehabilitation Center in Indianola. Mr. Windham was born March 20, 1924 in Caile and was the son of Ellis Sidney Windham and Ellie Barber Windham. He was a 1943 graduate of Inverness High School. After high school, he married his best friend, Helen Smith Windham. They were married 71 years until her death in 2014. Mr. Windham was a store owner and farmer. He farmed for 69 years retiring at 88 years old, and he and his wife owned and operated Windham Grocery for 44 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen Smith Windham; and his brother, V. Ellis Windham. Mr. Windham is survived by his daughter, Jeannette Murphey and her husband Joey of Chunky; sister, Katie Rhodes of Slidell, Louisiana; two grandchildren, Jay Murphey and his wife Amanda of Chunky and Justin Murphey of Hattiesburg; two sisters in law, Mollie Smith of Inverness and Bernice Smith of Indianola; and his caregivers, Gloria Clincy and Teresa Watson. The family will receive friends Monday, May 23, 2016 from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am funeral service at Inverness United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery in Inverness.
