Simon Dawson Foster, 81, of Drew, died Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Walter B. Crook Nursing Facility in Ruleville.

He was born March 3, 1936 in Jonestown and was the son of Edgar and Katie Foster. Simon was a general contractor and owned and operated Simon Foster's Contracting in New Jersey for 46 years prior to his retirement. He was a United States Army Veteran and was a member of American Legion Post #106. Simon was a member of Sunflower Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Patrick Joseph Benedetto, Jr. Simon is survived by his wife Anniebell Beach Foster of Drew; five daughters, Elizabeth Murphy of Woodstock, Georgia, Rose Benedetto of Okeechobee, Florida, Bonnie Gechtberg and her husband Jason of Forket River, New Jersey, Betty Richardson of Matawan, New Jersey, and Christine Foster of East Strasburg, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Howard and Jackie Foster; one sister, Mickie Foster; sixteen grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday, July 16, 2017 from 1:00 pm until the 2:00 pm funeral service at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial will follow in Pilgrim Rest Cemetery in Indianola. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
