Simona Cadena Castaneda, 76, of Indianola, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Liberty Health and Rehab, Indianola. Simona was born in Runge, Texas and was the daughter of Ynes Cadena and Alvina Cano.

Simona was well loved and respected by her family. It was her great pleasure to take care of her family, and she was very proud of each one. Simona loved fishing and cooking. She made hot tamales that were out of this world! A beautiful lady….always happy and always smiling. She made friends everywhere she went and will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her.

Simona was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carlos Moiseis Castaneda; son, Charlie Castaneda; brother, Diego Cadena; and father-in-law, Gumecindo Castaneda.

Simona leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Maria Castaneda of Indianola; sons, Jesse Castaneda (Mary Bonney) of Arcola, Frankie Castaneda (Bessie Ann) of Horn Lake; brothers, Adan Cadena (Carlota) of California, Ynes "Chain" Cadena (Nancy) of Grenada; sisters, Esther Navarro of Indianola, Maria Hernandez (Valentin) of Arkansas, Eva Salas (Ruben) of Florida; grandchildren; Marcos Castaneda (Katherine) of Tennessee, Ramon Martinez (Christina Hebert) of Indianola, Porfirio "Opie" Martinez of Indianola, Danny Bonney of Ohio, Antonio "Tony" Bonney of Ohio, Regina Bonney (Jarrell Byas) of Greenville, Atavis "Fluitty" Minton of Ohio, Sara Adkins (Christopher) of Horn Lake, Simon Castaneda of Florida, Carmalita Castaneda of Rolling Fork; and 18 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 3, 2015 from 1:00 pm until the 3:00 pm funeral service at Burton Funeral Home, Indianola. Burial will follow in Indianola Memorial Gardens, all under the direction of Burton Funeral Home.
