Susan Marshall Wilson, 65, of Indianola, passed away Monday, March 30, 2020 at South Sunflower County Hospital in Indianola.

Susan was born April 23, 1954, in Fort Benning, Georgia, to Carl and Sandy Marshall. She married James Rowell Wilson in 1974, and together they made their home in Indianola. Susan had plans to retire after 30 years from Community Bank where she served as Branch Manager. She was a faithful and devoted member of Christ United Methodist Church in Indianola, where she sang in the choir and previously served as church secretary and treasurer. Susan was very community and civic minded. She was very active with the Indianola Chamber of Commerce and previously served as President and Secretary. Susan was a   member of the Indianola Civic League, David Holmes Chapter of the DAR, and Indianola Garden Club. She worked many years with the Sunflower County Relay for Life. Susan loved to crochet baby blankets and was an avid letter writer. She always wrote the most encouraging and uplifting letters to her friends and family. Susan was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother (SuSu), sister, and friend. She loved the Lord with all her heart. Susan will long be remembered for always greeting people with a smile and a hug, and for her genuinely positive and inspiring spirit.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Sandy Marshall, and her granddaughter, Rose Alice Murray.

Susan is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, James Wilson of Indianola; three daughters, April Wilson Savell and her husband Clay of Brandon, Erin Wilson Ming and her husband Kevin of Starkville, and Cari Jane Murray and her husband Justin of Mandeville, Louisiana; two brothers, Al Marshall and his wife Deborah of Carrollton, and Jack Marshall and his wife Kellie of Carrollton; two sisters, Carla Easton and her husband Mike of Nicholasville, Kentucky; and Lou McKinley of Tallahassee, Florida; six grandchildren, Gunner Gambill and his wife Brittany, Thomas Savell, Hill Savell, Justin Ming, Cecilia Murray, and Wilson Murray; and many nieces and nephews.

A private family funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 1, 2020 with burial in Evergreen Cemetery in North Carrollton. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any charity of the donor's choice.

The family will have a public celebration of life service at a later date. Burton Funeral Home will make a formal announcement once the service is scheduled.
