Sybil Kirk Arant passed away peacefully into heaven on Saturday, July 3, 2021, at her home.  Sybil was born to Carey Lawrence Kirk and Willard Sadler Kirk on April 19, 1934, near Shaw, MS.  Sybil graduated from Sunflower Agricultural High School in Moorhead, MS in 1951.  She went onto the University of Southern Mississippi where she played clarinet in the marching band.  She graduated from college in 1954 with a degree in Math and Chemistry.  She taught for 2 years at Tunica High School before marrying her husband of almost 65 years, Andy Turner Arant, Sr.

Sybil joined her husband as the Executive Officer for their farm, Dyche Plantation in Blaine, MS, where they spent many years farming and raising their 3 children.  Sybil was active in Sunflower County Farm Bureau Women's Committee.  She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.  She served on numerous committees at Indianola Academy and in the community to support her children's activities while growing up in Sunflower County.   Early in their marriage, Sybil and Turner attended Sunflower United Methodist Church where Sybil was the organist/pianist for worship services and taught Adult Sunday School.

The service to her church and community was the center of Sybil's life.  She devoted over 30 years organizing the North MS Emmaus and Chrysalis programs at the Christian Camp of North MS.   As a member of Indianola First United Methodist Church, she served on many committees promoting her Christian beliefs.  She taught the Explorers Bible study for women's groups and organized an evening bible study which brought many to study God's Word.  Sybil's devotion for teaching God to our children was realized when she was honored at the opening of the FUMC Day School.

She was preceded in death by her husband, by her parents, and by her brothers Cyrus Eugene Kirk, Durwood Lawrence Kirk, Willard Douglas Kirk, and Floyd Allen Kirk.  She is survived by three children, Andy Turner Arant, Jr. (Debbie) of Oxford, MS, Linda Carol Robertson (Jeff) of Indianola, MS, and Kathryn Anne Arant of Seattle, WA; five grandchildren, LaBeth Brown, Libby McCloud (Josh), Jeremy Brown (Lacey), Rebecca Arant, Robert Arant; three great grandchildren Lindsay Gillis, Lucas Brown, and Eliza Brown; and two brothers Bobby L. Kirk of Roundaway, MS, and Andy Ellzey Kirk of Northport, AL

Sybil was loved and cared for by her amazing caregiver Enriecka Bolden, with the help of Rosie Wilson, Linda Plain, and Jeanette Dotson.  Sybil and Turner also received assistance from Arthur McCray to feed their "pets".

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm, Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at First United Methodist Church in Indianola in the Schwartz-Ward-Rose Sunday School Room. Funeral services will begin at 3:00 pm at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Trey Skaggs officiating. Burial will follow in Lehrton Cemetery in Ruleville. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
