Thomas Nick "Nicky" Jones, 75, of Inverness, passed away Monday, October 10, 2022, at his home.

Nicky was born February 2, 1947, in Inverness, to Fred Vardaman Jones, Sr. and Julia Arlene Eakin Jones. He was a graduate of Inverness High School and attended Mississippi State University. Nicky was a longtime farmer in the Inverness community. He was a member of Inverness United Methodist Church and the Inverness Lions Club. Nicky enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, playing guitar, all Mississippi State sports and his cats. He was famous for his bbq ribs and his broiled oysters and boiled shrimp. He loved the holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas, because they were filled with family and friends. He was never happier than when his camp house was full of hunters, they were like his family. Nicky was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend and as many others have said, "he was just a nice man."

Nicky was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Billie D. Jones; three sisters, Francis Maxine "Tutie" Metts, Cynthia Camille Jones, and Betty Sue Asbury.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Susan Catlette Jones; daughter, Jennifer Jones Morrison (John) of Hattiesburg; son, Alan Thomas Jones of Inverness; and one brother, Fred V. Jones, Jr. (Cay) of Inverness.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 12, 2022, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, October 13, 2022, at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Inverness with Rev. Linda Malone officiating. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
