Velma Hancock Kwan, 71, of Indianola, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

Velma was born June 16, 1948, in Moorhead to Charles Henry Hancock and Beatrice Mitchell Hancock. She worked for many years as a pharmacy technician at Fred's Pharmacy in Indianola and later cleaned houses. Velma married Tommy Kwan in 1967, and together they made their home in Indianola. She was a faithful member of Eastwood Baptist Church in Indianola.

Velma was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Charles Hancock.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Tommy Kwan of Indianola; four brothers in law; one sister in law, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 6, 2020 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Eastwood Baptist Church in Indianola with Rev. Ron Burch officiating. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery.  Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
