Virginia Booth Horne, 83, of Oxford, and formally of Inverness, passed away Monday, February 20, 2023, at The Blake in Ridgeland, MS after a hard fought battle.

Virginia was born August 28, 1939, in Hollandale to William Harper Booth and Berith Burch Booth.  This proud Delta girl was a graduate of Hollandale High School  and the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy. She owned and operated Horne Drug Store and Gifts for over 35 years. There you could get a 25 cent coffee and all the Delta news. She regarded her pharmacy patrons and gift customers as family and was dedicated to their service. If you were missing a fork, bowl, or goblet in any pattern; she was your "go to" or before 24 hour pharmacies were available she would fill prescriptions day or night. Virginia continued her pharmacy work at Southern Discount Drugs in Charleston until her very reluctant retirement in 2019 at age 80.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Montgomery "Monty" Horne; Daughter, Virginia Stuart Horne; and brother, Dr. William Harper Booth, Jr. Virginia is survived by one son, John Montgomery Horne, Jr. of Shubuta, Mississippi; one daughter, Shannon Horne Woodson of Ridgeland; and four grand children, Hallie Horne, Ann Stuart Woodson, Rand Woodson, and McLeod Woodson.

Graveside Service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Hickory Grove cemetery in Inverness with Rev. Seth Walley officiating. Visitation will follow at Oakhurst, 821 W. Grand Ave., Inverness, MS, 38753. Burton Funeral  Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
