Obituary

Walter Johnson, Jr., 91, of Inverness, passed away Monday, February 1, 2021, due to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

He was born November 19, 1929, in Leland to Walter S. Johnson, and Viola Carrol Johnson. Walter was a self employed catfish farmer and also worked in construction until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and cooking. Walter had a very generous spirit and was always helping those in need by buying and delivering lunches, tomatoes, and anything else that they might need.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pearl Phillips Johnson; son, Ricky Johnson; three brothers, James C. Johnson, Eugene Johnson, and Billy James Johnson; and one sister, Mae Walton Youngblood.

Walter is survived by three sons, Harold Johnson of Colt, Arkansas, Michael Johnson (Beth) of Youngsville, Louisiana, and Keith Johnson of Inverness; one daughter, Carolyn Buchanan (John) of Victoria, Texas; one brother, Jimmy Allen "Pete" Johnson (Joyce) of Vicksburg; one sister, Mary Catherine Lett of Hartford, Alabama; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, February 4, 2021, at Southside Cemetery in Inverness. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
