William Darrell Barton, 79, of Louisville and formerly of Indianola, died Saturday, December 3, 2016 at his home.

Darrell was born May 3, 1937 in Water Valley, and was the son of James and Ruth Roberts Barton. He was a graduate of Indianola High School and Mississippi State University. In 1964, he married Peggy Edwards and together they made their home in Indianola. Darrell was a member of Fairview Baptist Church where he served as deacon. He was the manager of FMH Water Association until his retirement and was a member of the Mississippi Rural Water Association Board.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents; and brother in law, Bill Cannon.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Peggy Edwards Barton of Louisville; two daughters, Melonye Barton Harvey and her husband Wyatt of Meridian and Lauren Barton Smith and her husband Todd of Louisville; sister, Jimmie Ruth Barton Cannon of Brandon; and three granddaughters, Mary Drew Hall, Harley Grace Smith, and Sybil Ruth Smith.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 6, 2017 from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am funeral service at Fairview Baptist Church in Indianola. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola is in charge of arrangements.
