William David Pearce, Sr., 85, of Sunflower, passed away Friday, April 14, 2023, at St. Dominic Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Dave was born October 11, 1937, in Indianola, to Cecil Garfield Pearce, Sr. and Myrtle Hairston Pearce. He was a cattle farmer and enjoyed tending to his cattle and chickens. Dave enjoyed going to the coffee shop in Winona in the mornings. He loved riding horses and trail riding with his grandchildren and loved playing with his two great grandchildren. Dave was a member of Sunflower Baptist Church and was formerly a member of the Sunflower Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Cecil Garfield Pearce, Jr.; and two sisters, Barbara Edwards and Virginia Steed.

Dave is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sue Fleming Pearce of Sunflower; son, William David "Crockett" Pearce, Jr. (Leann) of Sunflower; three grandchildren, Trey Pearce (Rachel), Michael Pearce (Andrea), and Chelsi Pearce; and two great grandchildren, Liam Pearce and Ariana Pearce.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 17, 2023, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Sunflower Baptist Church in Sunflower. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm with Rev. Trey Pearce officiating. Burial will follow in Lehrton Cemetery in Ruleville. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
