William (Bill) Paul Purcell, Sr. 86, passed away on September 22, 2016 at the Mississippi State Veterans Nursing Home in Jackson, Mississippi.

Graveside services are Monday, September 26 ^th at City Cemetery at 1:00 p.m., Indianola, Mississippi.

Bill was born in West, Mississippi on August 30, 1930 and grew up in Sidon, Mississippi. He attended Greenwood High School where he graduated in 1950.

After graduating, he entered the United States Air Force and was a part of the 3275 ^th Installations Squadron (ATRC) at Parks Air Force Base in Livermore, California. He was honorably discharged on December 14, 1954.

Bill moved his family to Greenwood, Mississippi then to Indianola in 1963 where he and his brother Lewis W. Purcell, Sr. opened L&B Repairs. Together they were in the cotton picker repair business for nearly 35 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth N. Purcell; son, William (Billy) Paul Purcell, Jr.; and one brother Lewis W. Purcell, Sr. Bill is survived by his daughter, Forrest Ann Jordan and husband Sandy of Brandon, Mississippi; and one granddaughter, Jessie Poole and husband Jason and their daughter Chaelen Poole all of Pearl, Mississippi.

Burton Funeral Home of Indianola is in charge of arrangements.
