William Hugh "Scooter" Sanders, 71, of Indianola, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2022, at Delta Health the Medical Center in Greenville with his loving daughters by his side.

Scooter was born September 26, 1950, in Yazoo City, to Thomas Alan and Mary Mildred Duncan Sanders. He was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Indianola. Scooter was a devout Catholic and said the rosary every day. He always told everyone "God bless you" and always prayed for his friends and family. God gave him the gift of craftsmanship and he worked as a master carpenter. He was a perfectionist and could build anything. He loved working in his shop and spending time with his buddies. Scooter had a positive attitude and was always happy no matter how much in pain he was. He was a selfless person who always put others first. Scooter was a devoted and loving son, father, grandfather, and brother. He loved his family more than anything, always telling them what a gem they were and that they were going to do wonderful things in life.

Scooter was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Sanders, Sr.; son, David Sanders; and brother, Richard Sanders.

He is survived by his mother, Mildred Duncan Sanders of Indianola; two daughters, Mary Allison Sanders Ray (Jaimie) of Pass Christian and Liza Sanders of Jackson; brother, Tommy Sanders, Jr. (Barbara) of Fayetteville, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Jackson Roberts, Ava Ray, David Sanders, Jr., Farrell Sanders, Sydney Sanders, and Mary Ashton Sanders; and a host of dear friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 11, 2022, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The funeral mass will begin at 2:00 pm at the church. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
