William Russell Sharp, 83, of Indianola, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020, at South Sunflower County Hospital in Indianola.

William was born October 3, 1937, in Itta Bena, to Ernest and Clister Green Sharp. He graduated from Indianola High School. William retired from South Central Bell after 30 years of service and had worked for Community Bank in Indianola for 31 years. He was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church in Indianola where he served as an active deacon.

William was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 63 years, Frances Nelms Sharp; and four brothers, Ernest, Leo, James, and Thomas.

He is survived by three children, Rusty (Debbie) Sharp, Sissy (Ray) Bridges, and Ann Sharp; one sister, Mary Newman; three grandchildren, Russ (Jenn) Roden, Gina Sharp, and Peyton Sharp; and two great grandchildren, William Roden and Sam Roden.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, December 28, 2020, in Indianola City Cemetery with Rev. Ron Burch officiating. Masks will be required. Burton Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
